  • Older travelers

I found the hostel staff very friendy and helpful, the facilities were ideal for the short stay I was there I especially liked the bistro it was handy having somewhere to eat on the premises. I would stay there again and would also recommend it to friends and relatives.

There is very little I was unhappy about, except perhaps the cost of the room I had compared to somewhere like the travelodge, perhaps a lower price structure would attract more customers away from the likes of the travelodge.

  • Older travelers

Friendly staff. Excelent food preparation. Parking facilities reasonable with a bit of planning. The centre was new so much of the facilities was clean & well decorated. Shared facility site which was unusual. An independant art gallery shared the same site. Centrsl to all town facilities & sites to visit. Not far from coast or country side. Ensuite facilities.

The beds. Getting older & getting more & more difficult to manage clambering up, down or over things. Usually put one mattress on floor to sleep on. Usually have this problem at most hostels.

The granary and the way it was made up!

  • Single

Friendly staff especial mention to Sharon in the cafe, very helpful. Clean and bang in the centre of town.

  • Couple

The beautiful surroundings , the friendliness of people, the walks, and the golf club. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Felt at ease and was made very welcome. Staff excellent, would help in any way possible to make stay as welcoming as they could. Have visited Berwick Upon Tweed for 20 years but this was best ever visit yet . Highly recommend YHA if you want to relax, chill out and do your own thing.

    Bed was quite comfortable.

I was a solo traveller and paid £48. I had to make my own bed. The room didn't smell to good, the walk in shower didn't look very clean and the temperature was not constant. So overall not very good valve for money.! I would only recommend to other travellers if they were in a group and are not bothered about home comforts.

Amazingly high quality hostel, very friendly staff.

Very little, only tiny complaint is that the dining area felt quite muffled and sterile.

  • Family with children

Very original youth hostel - great design, clean, modern and new. Great facilities and we had a spacious family room with en-suite shower room. Fab cooked breakfast available for good price. Staff friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending - our teenagers were very impressed and they are hard to please! Only downside was the noisy seagulls (clearly not something the hostel can sort!) but luckily the rooms have good windows and shutters which helped hugely.

  • Older travelers

This hostel is the very best we've stayed in England. Lovely renovated old granary which is very modern inside. Ensuite rooms very clean and comfortable. Food excellent value. Location brilliant for restaurants, theatre and shopping. Excellent value for money. Will definitely stay again.

  • Family with children

We travelled as a family and have found ourselves confined to our rooms or having to stay out in all weathers rather than sit in a small room. The YHA was ideal for us, with a bistro, a lounge and a self catering kitchen and dining room we were able to treat the place more like a home and the kids loved the place. We didn't feel confined at all. The building id lovely and full of it's own history and very clean and welcoming. I would take my family back, it's an excellent base from which to explore the North East of England.

It would have been nice to have had a chair in the room, the beds were too hard and in our room (301) we could hear the washing machines most of the night.

  • Older travelers

    Very well designed and smart.

Our only disappointment was with the disorganised and late breakfast. The quality was also poor. It did not represent value for money. We did not understand, why, on arrival, we could have a delightful pot of tea, but at breakfast it was a tea bag in a cup of lukewarm water!

  • Group of friends

the staff were really friendly and helpful and berwick is A brilliant palce to be its A good mixture of history, shopping and friendly people. I would definately recommend berwick yha to anyone and everyone because its so clean, friendly and the building and location itself couldnt be better. I will definately be returning!

  • Family with children

the excellent price for clean and comfortable rooms with very friendly staff

  • Group of friends

Comfortable and clean budget accomodation very close to the a1 and rail/bus links. Ideally placed for visiting Lindisfarne. What not to like about an en suite room for £25 per night. Right by the ramparts for walking round the town. River views from inside the hostel. Close to shops and restaurants. Well equipped kitchen. Very friendly.

It would be good to have some boot washing and drying facilities though lack of these did not cause a problem. Parking is in a public car park right outside the door where you can park free for 2 hours. If you are planning on leaving the car all day you do need to move it to another car park round the corner where you can pay £3.50 for a whole day. No problem in winter but it may be more difficult in the season.

  • Older travelers

Great historic building, great location, very friendly service and great value.
